The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Goa
is a regulatory Department and implements various statutory provisions as contained in the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and the rules made there under regulating procurement and/or distribution of essential commodities namely rice, wheat, sugar, edible oil and kerosene oil under the Public Distribution System (PDS). This is one of the Departments which have close contact with the general public. It is the endeavor of the Department that there should be cordial and harmonious relations with the public and the officials and to render excellent service to the people.The Department is also committed to protect and guard the interest of the Consumers in Goa and to make available to them the means of assert their Consumer Rights and to redress their grievances through North and South district Consumer Redressal Forum and Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, Consumer Conciliation Committee and Lok Adalat.
Activities of the Department :
Renewal of Ration cards every Five years.
Issue of New ration cards with in the State (with Surrender Certificate).
Inclusion/deletion of family members.
Change in the address within the service area of the Fair Price Shops.
Change in the address including change in the Fair Price Shop within the Taluka.
Issue of Surrender Certificates on transfer to other city or otherwise.
Issue of licence for running Fair Price Shops.
Issue of licences for retail sale of Kerosene.
Issue of foodstuff licences for foodstuffs.
Issue of solvent/naphtha licences.
Issue of Certificate of Registration to Edible Oil Packaging Units.
